IMPACT TESTING MACHINES |
|
|
|
The
DMG IMP300 range of pendulum Impact testers includes machines for Charpy
and Izod testing of metals. All machines meet British, European and
International Standards for both methods. There are three main Standards
concerned with Impact testing: BS EN 10 045:1990 ASTM E23:1982 BS131, Part
1:1972. BS EN 10 045 and ASTM E23 are the Standards
involved with Charpy Impact testing. The
IMP300 is 300 Joules capacity for Charpy testing and 150 Joules for Izod
testing. The pendulum is of rigid tubular construction mounted on
anti-friction bearings at the top of a single pillar, bolted to a heavy
cast base. On
the IMP300, the pendulum is securely held in the pendulum bracket by a
self release toggle latch. The release mechanism is operated by two levers
on the release box. The upper lever is a safety lock that has to be lifted
and held in position before the second pendulum release lever can be
operated. This is an important safety feature as it prevents accidental release
of the pendulum. |
INSTALLATIONAll
Impact testing machines require guarding to minimise the risk of anyone
walking into a swinging pendulum. Guard rails and screens are included
with all machines for the UK, for the end user to fit. The
machine must be mounted on a concrete plinth in accordance with DMG
drawings based on ASTM or BS EN Standards. All machines are calibrated in
works, with final assembly and direct verification on site to the
tolerances laid down in the relevant testing Standard. DMG
is accredited by UKAS for calibration and certification to all three
Impact testing Standards. Download
